Wood Filled
Wood-filled filament in 3D printing is a composite material that combines thermoplastics with wood particles or fibers. This filament provides a unique aesthetic, resembling the appearance and texture of wood, while retaining the versatility of 3D printing. Ideal for creating objects with a natural, wooden finish, it is often used in artistic and decorative prints. The resulting prints may showcase wood-like textures, making it a popular choice for projects where a natural appearance is desired, such as architectural models, artistic sculptures, or custom furniture prototypes.
Applications
1
Artistic and Decorative Prints
Wood-filled filament is commonly used in 3D printing for creating artistic and decorative objects, allowing for the production of items with a natural wood-like appearance.
2
Architectural Models
This filament finds applications in 3D printing architectural models where a realistic representation of wooden elements, such as furniture or building structures, is desired.
3
Custom Furniture Prototypes
Wood-filled 3D printing is employed for prototyping custom furniture designs, enabling designers to visualize and test wooden components before committing to traditional manufacturing methods.
Samples
Coffee Tray
Coffee tray designed in Fusion 360 with flower vase / spoon holder, printed in 2 different wood filament colors with a single extruder, sanded and lightly varnished to restore color after sanding. The tray fits my Turkish/espresso coffee small cups, you can scale it up to fit what you usually use.

Swing Planter
Here is a model for an outdoor planter looking like a homemade wooden swing! It looks the best if you have wood filament as I also added some texture to make it look more real. In two versions: one with 2 holes of 68mm diameter and one with 3 holes of 45mm for smaller pots. The holes for the strings have a 3mm diameter.
