In a bold fusion of tradition and technology, Gucci has unveiled its latest innovation: the Gucci Cub3d sneaker, the brand's inaugural footwear featuring 3D-printed components. This limited-edition release, comprising just 20 pairs, will debut at Gucci's flagship store on Via Montenapoleone in Milan from April 16 to 21, 2025.
The standout feature of the Gucci Cub3d is its intricately designed midsole, crafted using Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) technology. This advanced 3D printing method allows for the creation of a complex lattice structure, inspired by polyhedral geometry, resulting in a sole that is both lightweight and supportive. The lattice design not only enhances the shoe's aesthetic appeal but also provides superior cushioning and flexibility.

Complementing the innovative sole, the upper portion of the sneaker is constructed from Demetra, Gucci's proprietary material introduced in June 2021. Demetra combines quality, softness, and durability, comprising 70% plant-based raw materials sourced from renewable and bio-based origins. This sustainable approach reflects Gucci's commitment to environmental responsibility without compromising on luxury.
The Gucci Cub3d's design is further accentuated by its vibrant "Ancora" red hue, a nod to the brand's rich heritage. The Via Montenapoleone boutique will be adorned in this signature color during the sneaker's launch, creating an immersive experience for visitors.

Gucci's foray into 3D printing aligns with a broader trend in the luxury footwear industry, where brands are exploring additive manufacturing to push the boundaries of design and customization. This approach allows for rapid prototyping and the creation of complex structures that traditional manufacturing methods cannot easily achieve.
While the Gucci Cub3d represents a limited release, it signifies the brand's ongoing dedication to innovation and sustainability. As 3D printing technology continues to evolve, it is poised to play an increasingly significant role in the future of luxury fashion, offering new possibilities for creativity and eco-conscious production.
